Propylene Glycol is a synthetic organic compound; it is a viscous, colourless and nearly odourless liquid. The chemical formula is C3H8O2. It is able to lower the freezing point of water, and is used, amongst other applications, in chilled-water applications which are required to cool below water’s freezing temperature. It is considered to have low toxicity for humans and large quantities are required to cause perceptible health damage, making it a safe, cheap cooling agent for commercial and industrial applications.
