Variable Speed Drive (VSD), or adjustable speed drive, is an industrial electric motor in which the speed can be varied or adjusted by means of an external controller. These are used to provide dramatic energy savings by running the refrigeration system consistently at optimal capacity rather than at full motor capacity.
